Absolutely love this place. Great coffee and alcohol selections along with a happy hour. Small plates that are good fits for the coffees and wines. And amazing local talent at the open mic every Thursday night.
My wife asked if I could pick up some coffee on my way home. I knew the roasting location was close today, so I did a quick search and found that Carytown Coffee had a cafe location not to far from it, I took a chance and drove over. Having never been there, I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. It was cozy but not cramped and they had a good selection of whole bean coffees.i selected one that appealed to us and made my purchase. I actually discovered Carytown Coffee by chance several years ago. I needed to put a tow hitch on my vehicle and was waiting to turn into the parking area for the little row of storefronts (Southside Hitch is at the far end) from Midlothian Turnpike when my wife and I caught the scent of coffee in our nostrils. We were a little confused at first because there are no restaurants, Cafe's, or the like anywhere close to us. The aroma intensified as we crossed the lot still heading towards our destination and we nearly drove past without seeing it, but there it was. It is a small storefront with a modest sign, but the aroma emanating from immense. We parked and entered to discover that what we could smell from the road was the latest batch of freshly roasted beans being cooled. Not only was the coffee freshly roasted locally, but it was also a great price for a FULL pound of coffee (most bags of coffee at the supermarket are around 12oz).
I go here on average twice a week. The staff is personable, smart, pleasant (chipper in Nicole’s case), and accommodating. They always remember my normal order and they seem to do that with most other regular customers as well. I don’t drink coffee, but the sandwiches and muffins are delicious!
I work here, so I'm biased, but this little place has a cool, eclectic vibe. There's live music twice a week. Anybody can get up and play or sing, even do poetry. The coffee is great; it's only roasted about ten minutes away at our facility so it's really fresh. Sometimes when they bring the bags they're still hot from being roasted. We have a lot of talented baristas and we are all passionate about our craft and want to make the best drink possible. Our baker makes all the pastries in the back and he's become very proficient. Make sure to try his St Louis butter cake! Come on by and visit us!
Comfy, quiet, cute!! One of my new favorite coffee shops. They have comfy couches, semi-expensive (but quality!) coffee, and they also sell some other stuff (like local art, books, coffee beans, locally made cups, etc.). Looks like they have open mic nights on Thursdays from 7pm to 10pm as well. Would recommend. :)
Has the most "coffee shop" vibe of any coffee shop ever, so much personality, but so chill and not pretentious at all. The staff are friendly and easy to talk to without being pushy at all, and the coffee and food are all excellent. So great!! I'll always stop in if I'm in the area.
Visited for the first time this morning. I ordered a cold brew iced coffee and a sausage, egg, and cheese croissant. Both were great! They have an impressive menu, and I intend to return to try much of it. The workers were helpful and friendly. I found the environment quite comfortable. I wouldn't consider this a terribly kid-friendly place, though, mostly out of respect for other patrons looking for a quiet spot to relax.
Truly excellent vibes here, feels comfortable and friendly the minute you walk in. Open Mic Night is always a ton of fun and a great way to meet people. Easily the best coffee I've ever had at a great price, eclipses Starbucks or any other coffee chain, not to mention the fast service. If you're in the area and looking for a quick pick me up, definitely give Carytown Coffee a try
Open Mic on Thursdays. Friendly, welcoming and inviting amosphere. I wasn't impressed when it was Colony Coffee, but I sure am now!
Great place to visit. Really enjoy Thursday Open Mic Night! Fantastic staff and blend of musical artists and genres.
